Radharc Films:
Throughout 2012 Radharc Films will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the screening of its first film on 12th January 1962. During that time they produced a range of provocative, sometimes humorous and always informative films on social, political and religious issues.

Do This in Memory Mass
The monthly Do This In Memory Mass in preparation for First Communion takes place next Sunday 15th, Second Sunday of Ordinary Time at 12 o’clock. (Meet for practice 11.30). Meeting for parents in preparing for this Mass on Wednesday, 8pm in St. Matthew’s Parish Centre.
Reverence in the Church
We are constantly being reminded that the Church is different to other meeting places. It is a place of prayer. One of the great qualities of St. Matthew’s is the welcome that is so evident when visitors enter the church. A draw back of this welcome is that some people find it very hard to pray while others are chatting (sometimes very loudly!!). We encourage you to keep the noise level to a minimum and in particular in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. While the crib is in place it is wonderful to see so many quietly reflecting on the mystery of the incarnation, (Word made Flesh). Perhaps a New Year’s Resolution could be a more prayerful presence in the Church.
This also applies during Mass when there are often distractions to the prayerful participation. Do we really know the new prayers at Mass. Do we use the leaflets especially at weekday Masses?
Parish Centre
Open each week mornings for a cuppa and a chat. Wouldn’t it be great to use it more and keep the church for prayer.
Booking Mass intentions
It has been a great tradition of families taking part in the Sunday Mass through the offertory procession. Sometimes this is hard to organise particularly if the family members arrive at the last minute and others are drafted in to bring up the gifts. Please come a bit early and make yourself known to the Stewards to make it easier to organise.
For this reason we also ask that families leave a contact phone number when booking the Mass intention.
Church Shop
Open each week morning and Sunday morning around each mass times. Our thanks too to those who are so loyal in picking up their copies of the “Irish Catholic”.
Please pray for those recently deceased

World Migrant and Refugee Sunday 15th Jan
The outreach to Immigrants is part of our welcoming as a faith community who gather on Sunday; to steep our minds and hearts in God’s Word; to celebrate the Eucharist as the Body of Christ; and to go forth and journey as that Body. This is part of the Baptismal call; the challenge is in the living of it.
More about this next weekend.
