First Holy Communion
Congrats to the girls from St. Louise’s who made their First Holy communion yesterday.
The boys from Mary Queen of Angels will celebrate their First Holy Communion next Saturday.
Priesthood Sunday
Special Collection for Students of Priesthood will be taken up this weekend. It will replace the Share Collection.

Say No To Ageism Week (May 15 – 19)
The aim of the week is to promote new awareness and understanding of ageism and of how ageism excludes older people from participating in and contributing to society. For more details see www.equality.ie/index.aspFeastdays this week
Mon 15th: St Carthage (or Mochuta),a native of Kerry studied at the monastery in Bangor. Founded a monastery at Rahan in 595, but moved southwards because of opposition and founded another monastery at Lismore, Co Waterford. He died in 638.
Tues 16th: St Brendan, Abbot. A Kerryman born in 486. Studied at Clonard under Finnian. Associated with places in Kerry such as Ardfert and Mount Brandon. He visited Scotland. He founded a monastery in Clonfert in 568 and died there in 578. Patron saint of seafarers.
Thurs 19th: St John I, Pope and martyr. First Pope to visit Constantinople. He is known for his defence of the faith against Arianism. He was imprisoned in Ravenna, where he died in 526. Also St Dunstan, Bishop, honoured in England
Sat 21st: St Bernardine of Siena. Born in Siena in 1380, became a Franciscan and a renowned preacher. Travelled throughout Europe. Encouraged devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus. He died in 1444.
Modern Christian Martyrs
On Monday the 22nd of May in St. Paul’s Church, Smithfield, at 7:30pm, the Community of St. Egidio will gather in prayer to remember by name all the men and women of the Christian Churches who have given their lives for the Gospel. Bishop Raymond Field will lead the prayer. All are welcome. Triduum in Honour of St. Rita
The Annual Triduum in honour of St. Rita of Kascia will be held in St. John the Baptist and St. Augustine Church in John's Lane, Thomas St. from Friday 19th to Monday 22nd. Prayers, hymns and Solemn Benediction each day at 8pm. Special Feast day Mass at 11am on Monday 22nd.
Bereavement support service
The Bereavement Support Service at Our Lady’s Hospice is recruiting volunteers to provide bereavement support to individuals and families who have been bereaved. The service is looking for people with good communication skills, an ability to accompany people who are distressed and an interest in bereavement and loss. People must not have experienced a significant loss in the last two years.
The selection procedure will involve the completion of an application form, attendance at interview and the take up of two references. Candidates must satisfactorily complete a sixty-hour training programme before being allowed to provide bereavement support to people.
Successful candidates must be able to commit one evening usually a Monday evening to the service. They will also be expected to attend supervision every month.
The training programme will commence in October.

Paul Byrne will be in the car park after Sunday Masses for the month of May selling at very reasonable prices summer bedding plants and flowers for hanging baskets.
Also offers service of preparing a hanging basket.
