Second Sunday of Ordinary Time

€25,556.67 was raised through the special collection taken up last Sunday. Well done to all for such generosity. Our thanks to some children from Blackditch who did a collection and raised €70. Well done too to the Griffin family (Oranmore) who did a whip round €260. Thanks to a collection among some of the staff in Cherry Orchard hospital, which raised €900.
Feast Days

Mon 17 th: St Anthony, Abbot. Born in Egypt around 260, Anthony went into the desert to live as a hermit and to do penance. Many came to follow him and to learn how to pray. He is known as the father of monasticism.
Tue 18 th: Today begins the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
Thurs 20 th: St Fabian, Pope and Martyr, Bishop of Rome 236 – 250. Also St Sebastian, one of the earliest Christian martyrs. He is patron of archers, athletes, soldiers and police.
Fri 21 st: St Agnes. A fourth century virgin martyr.
Sat 22 nd: St Vincent. He was a deacon in the church at Saragossa in Spain and suffered martyrdom under the persecution of Diocletian, c. 304.
St. Louise’s First Holy Communion – Enrolment Mass

The girls from second class in St Louise’s Junior school are invited to a special Mass on January, 30 th @ 10.30. At this mass they will be welcomed and their names included in the list of students preparing for Penance & Communion.
First Holy Communion – Parish Mass

Children preparing for First Holy Communion from the parish, attending various schools, are invited to their second monthly Mass next Sunday, 23 rd @ 12.30pm. Parents who volunteered to help out are invited to meet on Friday at 8pm in the sacristy.

Readers’ Rota
Readers are asked to pick up their rotas in the sacristy after Mass.
Divine Mercy Prayer Group
Meets every Wednesday after 7.30pm Mass. Includes Eucharistic Adoration, Rosary & Chaplet. All are welcome.
Exposition of Blessed Sacrament
Every Friday in Blessed Sacrament Chapel: 10.30 – 7.30. Do come along even if it’s for a couple of minutes.

Book Of Condolence
Following the past week’s sad news regarding young Robert Holohan we are putting a book of condolences together to be sent to Mark & Majella Holohan. If you wish feel free to sign and sympathise with them and the community in Middleton, Co. Cork.
Rosary with a difference
Starts back again on Tuesday 18 th January @ 7-8 pm in Caritas College. Join Sr. Maura and others sharing a scriptural rosary. Open invitation to all.
Christian Meditation
Resumes at the usual time of 8.15pm on Monday night.
