Second Sunday of Ordinary Time

Mass (Next Sunday)
September 5th @ 11 o' clock. There will be no 10.30 Mass or
11.30 Mass. All are welcome to come to this Mass.
A brief reminder:
Singing by all is encouraged.
No one to be behind the altar please. At the 6.30 Saturday &
11 Sunday mass all people are to be in the main body of the
church.
For Holy Communion on both masses please come up the main aisle
and by the walls and return to your seats by the middle aisles
that most people do. There will be extra ministers of the Eucharist
at each station. Please use them.
Feastdays
Mon 30th: St Fiacre, an Irish saint who travelled
to Northern France as missionary.
Tues 31st: St Aidan of Lindisfarne began as member of
the Iona community. Invited to Northumbria, he established a
famous monastery and school at Lindisfarne.
Friday 3rd: St Gregory the Great. He was Pope for 14
years from 590. He worked for reform of church liturgy and his
name is still associated with church music (Gregorian chant).
Sat 4th: St Aengus (Oengus) Mac Nissi, patron saint of
the diocese of Connor, where he founded a hermitage-type monastery
in the 5th century. He is said to have been baptised by St Patrick.
Bethany Support Group
The monthly meeting for the bereaved will take place on
Thursday, 2nd at 8pm in the Parish Centre. If you or anyone
you know who has lost a loved one would like to talk to someone
who has also been through such an experience, either in a group
or one to one, please give us a call or come along on Thursday.
First Friday
Every First Friday we remember the 'Altar list of
the Dead' at both morning and evening Mass. Confession
will be available on Thursday after morning and evening
Mass. |
Sick or Housebound &
would like a visit
Let us know their names and we'll try to organise
a visit either in hospital or at home. There is a book
in the sacristy where their name and address can be put
down. |
Esker Cemetery Mass
Mass for the dead will be celebrated on Sunday 5th
September @ 3pm weather permitting. |
Special Collection last weekend
Sincere thanks to all concerned with this collection.
€4,890 was raised and sent off to trócaire
to aid the people in Sudan. Well done |
St Matthew's/Padre Pio Pilgrimage
to Lourdes
Bus leaves St. Matthew's at 4 o'clock in the morning
on Thursday 2nd. |
Rossaveal Court Day Centre
Re-opens for meals on Wednesday September 1st. |
Baptism Meeting
Meeting takes place on Wednesday night @ 8pm in the
Parish Centre for all parents & Godparents of children
to be baptised next weekend. |
Blinded by Light
A 2 act comedy by Dermot Bolger, directed by Paddy Larkin
in Civic Centre Wed, Thur & Fri 1 - 3 September. All
proceeds to St Mary's School for deaf girls & Gurteen
youth Club. Tickets €8. |
Age Action Ireland
Providing a training course for carers in St Mary's
Parish Centre, Lucan from 20th September, 10.30 - 12.30.
See notice board for more details.
There is also a carer support group providing information,
etc in Civic Centre, second Tuesday of each month. |
Back to school
Mary Queen of Angels & St. Louise's primary schools
return on Wednesday 1st September. The secondary schools
have different dates for each year. |
