Harvest
Thanksgiving
This weekend we will celebrate Harvest Thanksgiving. Thanking
God for the great gifts that we have received. Not only can
we thank God for the fruits of the earth but also each one
of us has been given gifts that we, hopefully, have used.
Today we thank God for this and pray that we will make even
greater use of them in the future.
(Next weekend we will celebrate Emigrant Sunday. This year
we extend a special invitation to all non-nationals who have
come to settle in Ireland in recent years).
Questions
People Ask
Q. When should the new 'mysteries of light' in the Rosary
be recited?
A. Pope John Paul II suggests that the joyful mysteries
be recited on Monday and Saturday: the sorrowful mysteries on
Tuesday and Friday: the glorious mysteries on Wednesday and
Sunday and the new 'mysteries of light' on Thursday. Saturday,
being traditionally Mary's day, is very suitable for the joyful
mysteries, while Sunday is resurrection day and suited to the
glorious mysteries. But he offers this plan only as a suggestion
and respects the right of people to make their own choice.
