Happy
Father’s Day
To all the fathers of our parish we wish them a very happy father’s
day. Today is their day to be pampered. Let them watch the match in
peace! Bring them a cup of tea at half-time.
Padre Pio to be Canonised
Pope John Paul II will canonise Blessed Pio da Pietrelcina at the
10am Mass in St Peter's Square. The Catholic Communications Office
(CCO) has established a special feature on its website to mark the
canonisation of Padre Pio which includes the following sections:
The Canonisation Ceremony in Rome; The Life of Padre Pio; Ceremonies
in Ireland to mark the canonisation; Broadcast News and Prayer for
the Canonisation of Padre Pio. These can be accessed by clicking
on the Padre Pio link on the home page of the CCO website – www.catholiccommunications.ie
RTE 1 will transmit the canonisation ceremony live from Rome from
9.00am on Sunday. Fr Tom Mc Carthy will act as commentator.
Also on Sunday at 10.00pm, RTE 1 will show a 50 minute programme titled
"Padre Pio - The Path to Perfection", tracing the life of
the saint from humble origins to becoming a world-famous stigmatist,
confessor, and finally, saint. This programme was first broadcast
in the late 1980's and the commentary is spoken by Cyril Cusack.
