First Sunday of Advent

Small groups seminar
All are invited to a seminar on setting up small Christian groups in the parish. This workshop will be in the Parish Centre on Saturday 7th December 10.30-4.30pm including lunch. All are welcome.
Advent - Prepare Ye the Way
A night of reflection, prayer and music has been organised with various groups taking part on Friday 6th @ 7.30 in St. Matthew's Church. Bring a friend.
Prayer Groups for Advent
Our thanks to all those who have agreed to host the prayer groups throughout the parish. Reflection sheets will be available each week at the back of the church.
Advent Meditations - How to actually meditate
On Mondays from 8.15 - 9.15 in the Council Room with Fr. Roy as a way of getting ready for Christmas. Meditation involves coming to a stillness of both spirit and body. Using music, relaxation, stillness and John Main approach. All are welcome.
Visit the Church during Advent
Every Friday the Church is open for people who wish to come and pray or just sit in the quiet, peaceful atmosphere for a few minutes or longer.
Morning Prayer
If you go to daily Mass perhaps you'd like to be in the Church before 9.50 and join in the Morning Prayer. After the Eucharist the breviary (contains morning & evening prayer) is the most recognised prayer of the Church.
Advent Prayer Service @ 4pm
The Diocesan Advent Prayer Service takes place with the Massed Choir Group. The prayer service will include the contribution of the Capriol Consort with their distinctive rendering of early music.
Dublin Diocesan Prayer Initiative (Advent)

Annual Diocesan Youth Mass
Catholic Youth Care invite all young people to their annual Mass in University Church, St. Stephen's Green today @ 3pm. The CYC Choir will provide liturgical music and many of the Young people who attended World Youth Day in Toronto will also attend.
Bereavement Group meet (Bethany group)
The monthly meeting takes place in the Parish Centre on Thursday night (5th) at 8pm. If you have experienced a death in the family recently this is for you. A chance to come and share your grief or simply to listen to others tell their own story.
Christmas Cake Sale & Bric-a-brac
Takes place in aid of the Parish Centre after all Masses this weekend. Loads of goodies and novel Christmas presents to be bought. Come along and support it.
First Friday
On Friday we remember to pray for our 'Altar Lists of the Dead'. Confessions on Thursday after morning and evening Mass.
Appeal For Wool
Well done to so many who left in bags of wool to the sacristy and Parish Centre during the week. If you forgot you can do so this week also.
Navan Road Retreat
For those doing the annual Advent Retreat: The bus leaves St. Matthew's Church next Sunday @ 10am.
Sick or Housebound
If there is someone who would like a visit from a priest leave in their name in the sacristy and they will be visited as soon as possible.
Readers
All readers are invited for a Christmas Reflection and followed by light refreshments on Wednesday 11th @ 8pm in the Parish
Church gate collection
For C & S Drama Group which is a voluntary organisation with no official funding and teaches dance, drama and song to about 70 children in the parish centre every Friday night. Began 2 years ago and in its first year won the Dublin Area Final of Mini-Tops in the Rupert Guinness Hall. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
